My cousin Brianna

Standard

I may have mentioned my cousin Brianna in previous blogs, as she loves me and adores me very much.  When I lived in Australia and she would come to visit she would play with me and give me lots of cuddles and kisses.  In fact I was the first person she would want to see when she went to visit Omi and Poppy.

This blog today is dedicated to her as I am really proud of her and she is famous!!

Mummy showed me a picture of her in an article in the Southern Highlands Newspaper.  Brianna has Type 1 diabetes and this article was all about how brave she is and how she is trying to help raise money to help JDRF find a cure.  I will include the link so you can see it for yourselves.

Brianna was diagnosed with Diabetes when she was on holiday in the US when she was only 3 years old.  Diabetes is not easy to live with, every two to three hours (even when she’s asleep) Brianna must prick her finger to test her blood glucose levels or inject insulin into her body to keep her alive.  She has to monitor everything she puts her in mouth as it can affect her sugar levels.  As she is getting older she is a lot more aware of how to deal with this and is very good at saying no to treats and testing her blood herself.  I am so proud of her, she is very brave.

Every year around this time JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) organise a 5km ‘Walk for a Cure’ fundraising event.  It is in aid of raising lots of money to help find a cure for young people with Diabetes.  This year the walk was in Parramatta Park and Brianna walked the full 5km.  Omi, Poppy, Aunty Melissa and Uncle Nathan and lots of other family and friends all dressed up and joined her.  So far Brianna has raised almost $2000 but  I want to help her raise a little bit more.  So I thought it would be great to share Brianna’s story with my readers, friends and family.  I would really appreciate if you can dig deep and help my favourite cousin reach her goal by donating to her fundraising page.  It’s really easy to do, and will only take a min.
